There are cases foreigners may need to request the degree authentication and Consular legalization or accreditation of China Ministry of Education for use in China in the process of obtaining a work permit from the Chinese Foreign Expert Bureau or permanent residence from Public Security Bureau（PSB）in China.
There are several ways available to have overseas degrees recognized by China Authorities for Chinese visa purpose.
Solution A: Have the overseas degree notarized by Notary Public at the country the degree is originally issued, then authenticated at Ministry of foreign affairs of document issued Country, and last get it legalized by Chinese Embassy in foreign country.
Solution B: Have the overseas degree accredited by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Ministry of Education (MOE). It verifies the authenticity of the degree certificate that is issued by a foreign (overseas) university.
Solution C: Have the overseas degree legalized by foreign Embassy or Consulate in China.
Solution A and Solution B are most extensively used method to authenticate the oversea degree.
Solution C does not work for all applicants since not all foreign Embassy/Consulate in China provide legalization service for its own country’s degree.

- Have the degree notarized by a Notary Public at document issued country.

Individuals seeking employment in China need to have the USA degree notarized by Notary Public, authenticated by Secretary of State, and legalized by Chinese Embassy/Consulate to verify the authenticity of the degree to work in China.
Students who have studied postgraduate level courses for more than or equal to 14 months can be recognized as master's degree by the global degree certification center.
For those who have not obtained a degree but have studied for more than 14 months, they can also obtain master's certification.
In most cases it will take up to two weeks to have your degree authenticated and legalized.

To get the work visa in China, Canada degree need to be certified. The procedures involve notarization of Canada degree, authentication of Canada degree at Official Documents Services (ODS) department or Global Affairs Canada, and legalization at Chinese Embassy/Consulate.
Normally it takes two weeks to get Canada degree authenticated and legalized.

UK degrees need to be certified by a lawyer, authenticated by Ministry of foreign affairs and legalized by Chinese Embassy/Consulate for use in China.

- Who is eligible for degree authentication by China MOE?
Applicants graduated from foreign country including Chinese and foreigners can apply for degree authentication by MOE for the purposes of further studies, employment, or application for scientific research funds.
For most Chinese citizens, oversea degree authentication by CSCSE Credential Evaluation of MOE is stepping-stone for applying for civil servants, entering state-owned enterprises and institutions, and further education.
For foreigners, oversea degree authentication by CSCSE Credential Evaluation of MOE is an essential document for applying for Chinese work visa. Once applied successfully, it will be effective permanently.
- Cases degree authentication by China MOE are unobtainable including:
- University applicants graduated is not an accredited higher education institution in degree’s originated Country.
- You enrolled in a part-time degree course or online course instead of a full-time on-site course.
- Documents required for degree authentication by China MOE
You are required to provide the following forms and documents in support of your application of degree authentication.
1. A recent photo. Your photo should be in color and taken within the last six months. There is no requirement for the background color. The digital image of photo should be a JPG file.
2. The degree certificate or higher education diploma certificate in its original language (It refers to the official language of the country issuing the certificate).
If the original language is not English, but a degree certificate in English is issued, please also provide the both degree certificates. The scan copy of degree certificate should be a PDF file.
3. All passports during the period of study including the first page of the passport, the last page bearing signature, and all China visa pages, entry and exit stamp pages of during the period of study.
If the applicant’s passport for studying abroad is expired, he/she shall provide current valid passport. The scan copy of passport should be a JPG file.
4. Provide the applicant’s email address and mobile phone number for account registration.
5. Transcript. Scan copy of transcript should be a JPG file. To facilitate accurate authentication, it is recommended that applicants submit an official and complete transcript.
6. If more than 1/3 of the credits are obtained from other institutions, to accelerate the degree authentication process, please provide the transcripts or proof of enrollment for this part of the credits. Specifically including,
If the part of the credits is from the overseas study, the certificate issued by this institution should be provided. Meanwhile, the foreign visa and entry and exit stamp on your passport should be provided. If there is no certificate issued during this study period, transcript or letter of enrollment can be alternative documents.
If the part of the credits is from the domestic study, a domestic institution graduation certificate is required to be provided. If the graduation certificate is not issued, proof of enrollment is required to be provided.

USA degree: Normally it takes 10 working days to get USA degree authenticated by China MOE.
UK degree: Normally it takes 15 working days to get UK degree authenticated by China MOE.
Australian degree: Normally it takes 15 working days to get Australian degree authenticated by China MOE.
New Zealand degree: Normally it takes 15 working days to get New Zealand degree authenticated by China MOE.
Other countries degree: Normally it takes at least 20 working days to get other countries degree authenticated by China MOE.
